As promised, I wanted to show you what I've been up to.
If you've been reading my blog for at least a week, then you know that I am on a quest this fall to cozy things up and bring in a more neutral palette. The above picture is what our family room has looked like for the most part. The pillows (which I still love) are being used in other rooms now. I brought in some new pillows, lamps (thank you Kirkland's), and recovered the ottoman.
Here is what it looks like now. Recovering the ottoman in a larger pattern made such a difference! The stripe pillows (because I have a weakness for stripes) worked perfectly. I also have a yellow and white pair of pillows on order that didn't make it in time :(. Once they arrive, I might revise the photo.
I think what I'm most excited about is the new lamps compliments of my friends at Kirkland's! Are they not gorgeous!? Such a huge improvement over my lowly Re-Store lamps with shades that were so small they looked like comb-overs rather than a full head of hair. Thank you Kirkland's!
When the cooler months roll in, I really love having cozy throws within arms reach. Mom is so gifted when it comes to knitting and has made us a couple of blankets that quickly became favorites.
I also love bringing natural elements any time of year. OK René, we get it. You like natural stuff. The giveaway details pu-leez!

I have been thinking about a round mirror to replace the art over my mantle. I like the detail in the Emerald & Orange mirror, but would need to change the color.

I love the new fabric on the ottoman, and I also love the addition of the magnolia leaves (I think those are magnolia leaves, right?). If I can get my act together maybe I can show off my newly painted dresser in our master. Hope you had a great weekend! ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what a difference a few small changes can make? LOVING your ottoman! I walked through Kirklands the other night and was surprised at all of the new things I hadn't seen. They have some fantastic lamps right now...that would be my choice!

Gorgeous cozy updates, Rene! That ikat has always been a favorite, it's the perfect neutral with great impact! We don't have Kirklands in Denver anymore, but I'd choose the Gold Fleck table lamp. Yours are a beautiful addition!

You're so good at mixing prints. The new fabric on the ottoman gives it a whole new life. I am a professional organizer and would definitely shop here for those essentials as well. Your ottoman looks amazing, the yellow pillows will pop nicely, too.
