The other day while cleaning out our china cabinet, I came across these globes.
Lovely huh? Something tells me they had not seen sudsy water in a while.
Years ago, we had an old chandelier re-worked and no longer needed theses globes. Didn't need them, but couldn't part with them either. I just thought that maybe someday we would have a use for them.
So here they are looking like this.
I set them aside and went on about re-arranging the china cabinets to accommodate things from my grandmother's house. For some reason, I kept coming back to these globes. Then it hit me. I could use them outside to protect candles from the breeze.
How would you repurpose old globes?
I would love to hear your ideas.

A perfect use for them. See... there isn't anything that can't be repurposed!

I haven't figured out a use, but I've seen others use them with candlesticks to make hurricanes. When I find a brilliant idea for the ump-teen that I have, I'll let ya know!
ReplyDeleteMini hurricanes...I love the idea and yours are very nice. I would have kept them too!
ReplyDeleteI'm now thoroughly annoyed with myself for giving a bunch of those away last year. I wish I'd kept a few for this.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and great idea...I love the etching on the glass!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful idea. The etching on those globes is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteYours have such a great shape to them, like a garden cloche. How about some cut rosemary or herbs in fancy cups?
I know I'll never look at them the same way again :0)
Thanks, Lynea
So precious, I would have hung on to those too! Love, love that idea. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is just lovely Rene!
ReplyDeleteWhere is Mattie Gray...Doogan wants to know.
He likes to see her picture...you know the one with the pearls...when we pop over to visit!

Aren't you glad you didn't get rid of these? You could glue a glass knob to the top and make them into cloches. Thanks for paying me a visit and your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteYou are a genius...what a great idea!! I have a few globes that I'm going to repurpose! TFS...

That is a great idea. you could also use epoxy and glue something to the top to make a cloche.

You are so cute. That's a great idea! I don't have any, but I do remember that my mom had some. Wonder if they are still around? I'm going to forward this to her!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I was being so smart for thinking of that too! I saw some lovely old shades that had etching, like yours, and wanted them. How could I justify buying them if I didn't have a use for them? Put my thinking cap on and there you go. Also, they make candles a bit more safe with cats who jump on the table or children or blowing curtains. I also just bought some adorable kitchen globes that I will use over candles also. They are about 4 inches high, white glass with a clear front made of squares. Someone was selling items from the family homestead and I got them for 50cents.
