Client Inspiration: Fireplace Surrounds & Built-ins

I'm really excited to be starting a new client project this week.  As much as I love e-design, I really enjoy my "in town" clients because I get to meet them in person, see how they live, and get a good feel for how things work in and around their home.  This particular client needs a few of the finishing details to that complete a room.  The house is already amazing, but as with any home, some of the features are dated and need to be replaced.  The current fireplace surround is made of green*ish granite and my client would love to change that out which I completely agree with.

While marble and some granite fireplace surrounds are timeless classics, I'm rather loving the marble tile applications.  I've been gathering a few images for inspiration.

The herringbone pattern is my favorite!

While we're at it, the background of the shelves will receive a new color as well as some additional styling.  I'll keep you posted...

P.S.  I have moved my blog reading list over to bloglovin' and really like it over there.  It is super easy to use which has me wondering why I wasn't already there.  Since reader is going away, I decided to be pro-active in order to keep in touch with my favorite blogs.  If you would like to read Cottage & Vine on bloglovin', just click on the button.

A New Rug Reveal, a Giveaway, and a Lesson on Naughty Dogs

If you've been following my blog for a while, you might remember the One Room Challenge makeover I did on our son's room. The floors are hardwood painted white and while I really wanted a soft, durable rug for our son to step onto when he first gets out of bed, I was trying the stretch the budget a bit by skimping on the rug. So when my friends at Mohawk flooring invited me into their blogger program I was thrilled and honored! They offered me a new rug and I new exactly where it was going.

I'm excited to show you the new rug and much more right here!

A Giveaway With Sage K and Co.

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED.  WINNER IS CHERI.  CONGRATULATIONS CHERI!

The other day a special package arrived in the mail.  It was a lovely little bracelet from my friends at Sage K and Co.  Do you remember my mention of Sage K and Co. in my Mother's Day gift ideas round-up?  They are a darling little accessories store on Etsy where you will find current pieces at great prices to add that finishing touch to an outfit.

They were super sweet to send me this bracelet.  Minty green and gold perfection if you ask me.  Sage K and Co. has also offered one of my readers a bracelet just like it.  But before I go into the giveaway details, how about a peek at some of the lovely accessories in their store?

If you are feeling tempted to put these goodies in your cart, Sage K and Co. is offering my readers 15% off. Enter promo code Cottage15 at checkout.  I should probably mention that a great way to stay informed about upcoming promotions is to "like" Sage K and Co. on facebook.  Happy shopping!

Friday Link Love

Happy Friday loves!  This week was full of greatness in the blog world.  It seemed like every time I turned around there was a pretty new room to obsess over.  Here are a few favorites for the week...

1. Before & after kitchen on Amy Meier

2.  DIY TV Gallery Wall by Burlap & Lace

3.  A Bathroom Remodel by Emily Clark on The Home Depot

4.  Favorite Room of Hunted Interior on Sadie & Stella (be sure to read about the art over the night stand)

5.  I Don't Want to Leave My Bedroom on House Tweaking

Today is a big day at our house.  Our youngest finishes middle school.  Next year both of our boys will go to the same high school.  Lordy...that means I must be old.  Have a great weekend!

Chic Lamps For Under $100

I should probably thank Mom for my obsession with lamps (among other things).  Our feeling is that if you see one you like, chances are you can work it in somewhere.  Even if that means the basement among all the other impulse buy lamps ;).  Lamps can be rather pricey though.  And while I would always love to save my pennies and splurge on only the best ones, sometimes you just need a lamp - now.

Here is a round-up of lamps under $100 (except the first one) that I believe would fit into just about any decor. Enjoy!
